EVENTS
Blazers Ice Centre,
a full-service skating facility located at 8000 S. I-35, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, 73149,
offers group skating lessons through the Learn To Skate Program. The Basic Skills curriculum of U.S. Figure Skating
is followed. Classes are taught by registered
instructors. Enrollment in a Learn To Skate
session includes: a 30 minute group lesson
once a week, free skate rental, and free admission to the public skating session following
the class. Classes meet Tuesday from 6:45 pm
to 7:15 pm OR Saturday from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm. Registration
fees are $45.00/4 Week Session OR $95.00/8 Week Session.

by Edmond Homeschool FYI Group) is a wonderful opportunity for children to be introduced
to a variety of sports and to receive instruction from professionals. Each month a different sport is offered: bowling,
archery, fencing, gymnastics, tennis and golf. We meet once a week, typically on Friday
afternoons, for one hour. Fees vary and include equipment rental. The kids love the
exercise and interaction with other homeschool students.
It's also a great opportunity to connect with other homeschool parents. Class sizes are limited. Signups begin Saturday at 10am, Aug-14, at
Mardel's in Edmond. For information about

lessons for ages 8-13. Lessons are one on one, 30 minutes each. First lesson is free.
The cost is $7.00 each or $25.00 a month. The lessons will be held in our home in Surrey

support? Class for grades 4-6 begins NOW,
meets Thursdays and includes American and Oklahoma History, Geography, Arts and Crafts,
and basic English Composition. For grades 7-12, Correspondence Courses, Classroom Classes,
and Private Tutoring in American, Oklahoma and World History and Geography, English
Composition, American Government, and Logic/Philosophy/Christian World View are available. Help for college admissions essays and
scholarship essays, and private tutoring for all ages in Spalding phonics also available. The Oklahoma City
Homeschool Choirs are accepting enrollment for the 2004-2005 school year. Students will learn Basic Music Theory, Sight
Singing, Ear Training, Rhythms, Performance, Stage Presence, reading Multi-Part Harmonies,
and more. Concerts include a beautiful
Christmas Candlelight Concert, a Spring Concert, and others that vary from year to year. The atmosphere of the class is personal,

JUNIORS & SENIORS Youth Leadership
Exchange applications are now available at www.lokc.org.
YLX offers two free, school-year long programs. The Leadership Skills Class is designed for
aspiring leaders. Youth in Action emphasizes
community service leadership. Applications

Homeschool Volleyball Association will begin it's 2004-2005 season in October. The season
runs through April. Practice and games are at the Lighthouse. We practice once a week and
compete with other homeschool teams from across the state.
We have players from beginning to advanced levels. For more information

on public speaking sponsored by Toastmasters and the Warr Acres Library is available for
small groups of students age 12 and up. If interested in organizing a group, contact

High School Students recently honored homeschooler Jessica Lynn Smith, 16, of Midwest
City, OK for her academic and scholarship achievement. PRETEEN AMERICAN
ACHIEVEMENT AMBASSADOR Megan Elisabeth Smith, 10, of Midwest City, will be representing Oklahoma in the Preteen American Achievement Ambassador Mail-in pageant in October 2004. Her platform will be 'Girls Rule', a pro-chasity program for girls 9-18.
