Student entrepreneurs will receive entry into the convention as part of their entry fee.  Each business may include an additional two workers as part of their entry fee.   Each entrepreneur table will receive a total of three nontransferable badges and wrist bands for entry into the convention (one for the owner and one for each of two workers).  Additional workers must register for the convention at www.ochec.com.  This entry fee does not include parents.   Parents MUST register through normal OCHEC registration procedures at www.ochec.com .

Delivery & Pick-Up

• For the Oklahoma Homeschool Convention, entrepreneur tables can be set up between noon and 6pm on Thursday, May 2, or between 8–9am on Friday, May 3. All entries are to be delivered to the Cox Convention Center through the southwest overhead doors on Reno. All tables must be cleared by 5:30pm on Saturday, May 4.
• Do NOT leave any valuable items unattended at any time at your table. OCHEC cannot guarantee the security of any items left unattended.  

Guidelines

• Each application will be reviewed by the OCHEC convention committee before approvals are issued.  The sooner you submit your application, the sooner you will receive word of approval to participate.  Until you receive confirmation, a table is not guaranteed.
• Homeschool Student Entrepreneur businesses must be owned, managed, and operated by homeschool students only.   
• Homeschool Student Entrepreneur businesses may not receive subsidies other than transportation from parents or others. 
• Entrepreneurs may decide how long their tables are open and staffed during the convention.  However, OCHEC would like to have the tables open as long as possible.
• Due to space limitations, only two students and a parent may work at a table at any given time.  Entrepreneurs are welcome to set up work shifts for additional workers. (Remember, only three badges and wrist bands will be issued per table.)  Additional workers and parents must register through regular channels.
• Please be very respectful of the space of businesses located next to you.
• Student businesses should not violate the spirit of OCHEC’s Statement of Faith.  Businesses should honor the talent that God has bestowed upon their owners.
• OCHEC is not responsible for loss or damage from any cause.
• OCHEC reserves the right not to accept entries that we feel do not meet Godly business criteria
• OCHEC reserves the right to amend rules as circumstances dictate.

Example 1: Boats by Ben is a company began by a 12-year-old home-educated student. Ben uses his own funds to purchase materials to build his own model boats. He designs, chisels, sands, and paints his models to sell online and at community flea markets. Ben’s parents drive him to purchase supplies and to flea markets. Ben pays his siblings a salary to work for him and they help with sanding, painting and also work at his tables during flea markets. 

Example 2: Jewelry by Jewel is a company started by a 14-year-old home-educated student. Jewel purchases stones for her jewelry online and through trade shows, and then creates her own original designs to sell them online and at craft fairs and flea markets. Jewel’s parents have helped her establish her own business bank account. She markets her products online through her website. Jewel keeps careful accounting records to ensure she is making a suitable profit, including material costs, travel expenses, employee wages, and other expenses. 

Example 3: Brittany started her own pet care business, providing services for a reasonable fee—dog walking and training, pet sitting, and grooming. She advertises by flyer and word-of-mouth referrals. Brittany purchases her own pet supplies and donates part of her profits to a local shelter. Even though Brittany has only a handful of clients so far, she is working on expanding. She has employed her best friend to assist her when she needs additional help.
