!!!!!! CHANGE CHANGE CHANGE !!!!!!
Change (the only constant in our world) is what the convention was about, and the convention committee changed the convention to be the largest Oklahoma Home School Convention in its 25-year history. If you did not attend you missed some outstanding speakers and great opportunities to visit the largest selection of vendors in the state. The thirty-seven (37) workshops covered all age and grade levels of home education with sessions on organization skills, information on getting started, as well as encouragement for staying the course when the going gets tough, tossed in the mix for good measure. All 3500+ attendees were blessed by the amount of information and encouragement available from vendors, mentors, speakers, and convention volunteers.
OCHEC’s new Art & Photo contest was well received as over 100 entries were judged by Oklahoma Christian University, Edmond. Entries were in four age groups from age 5 through age 18 with 9 divisions in each age group. Convention attendees also had the opportunity to vote for the Peoples Choice category. Peoples Choice awards were provided by Tinker Federal Credit Union. Look for information about next year’s contest in the Fall Informer.
Another change this year was the student entrepreneur tables, twenty-five students took advantage of this opportunity to show their talents and services, ranging from jewelry, dinnerware, photography, and post cards, to fresh grass fed beef. We hope all entrepreneurs were successful and encouraged by the interest of the attendees and sales of their wares. More information on entrepreneur tables for next year will be in the Fall Informer.
The OCHEC Board of Trustees hope your life has been influenced and changed by the outstanding speakers, experiences, relationships, information and support you enjoyed at the convention. If you did not attend, make plans now to be changed and encouraged next year, as the committee is already at work planning larger better conventions for April 30 and May 1, 2010 and April 29-30, 2011.
