The inclusion of the following entries does not constitute an endorsement by Oklahoma Christian Home Educators’ Consociation of the program, organization, or tutor.  It is the parent's responsibility to investigate who will be involved in their children's education. We encourage parents to thoroughly investigate a potential program and ask for references and talk to others who have used these organizations/persons' talents. Updated 1/19/10.

BubbleWrap® Competition for Young Inventors, grades 5-8.

This year's competition has more chances to win and expanded prizes including awards up to $10,000 and a trip to New York City!  Deadline is March 3, 2010.

The Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs, Oklahoma's premier conservative think tank, hosts its annual Citizenship Essay Contest each spring.  The contest, which is open to graduating public, private and home school students in the 12th grade, offers a total of $10,000 in prize money to the top five entries.  For information see OCPA's website, www.ocpathink.org.

 Oklahoma Bar Association sponsors Law Day: Coloring, Collage & Poetry Contests for Lower Grades. Web-based Citizenship Test for 9th Grade and Special Handout for 11th Grade. State Spelling Bee sponsored by The Oklahoman. Register during September and October. Contact The Oklahoman at 800-375-6397.  All students must participate in a local bee before advancing to those levels in the competition. Tulsa Home Educators hosts a local bee open to all home educators in any county in January of each year in Tulsa.  Contact www.tulsahomeeducators.com or lduntley@aol.com.

Veterans of Foreign Wars sponsors Voice of Democracy, an audio essay contest for 9-12 grade students and Patriot Pen Essay for 6-8 grade students. Both have a November deadline.  Visit www.vfw.org for more information and contact your local VFW post for submission information.

Robotic Competition: Middle and high school teams design and build a robot (with free supplied parts) to maneuver a pre-determined course. Sponsored by OK BEST (Oklahoma Boosting Engineering and Science Technology) and held in Oklahoma City in October. See www.okcbest.org or www.bestinc.org for information.

Tulsa Engineering Challenge promotes science, math, and engineering in the community by providing hands-on activities for the creative youth of Oklahoma. Lincoln Essay Contest. The annual Lincoln Essay & Drawing contest for grades K-12 is sponsored by BancFirst. Entries are accepted beginning in September through the deadline in January.  K-3 grade must summit a drawing of Abraham Lincoln, and 4-12 grade must summit an essay of 250 words or less on the theme.
